1. Scope
These terms apply to work carried out by Ildverk AS for private and commercial clients in Norway, unless a separate written agreement says otherwise.
2. Survey and quotation
The initial site survey is free and carries no obligation. Written quotations are valid for 30 days. A quotation is based on what was visible and accessible at the survey; concealed conditions found once work begins — undocumented structural changes, a chimney in worse condition than it appeared, asbestos — are notified to you in writing with a revised price before any further work is carried out.
3. Orders and payment
An order is confirmed in writing. Where appliances are ordered specifically for you, a deposit may be requested. The balance falls due on completion, with 14 days' payment terms unless agreed otherwise.
4. Access and site conditions
You are responsible for providing access on the agreed date, for clearing the work area, and for informing us of anything concealed in the walls, floor or roof that we could not reasonably have found at survey.
5. Regulatory notifications
We prepare and submit the notification of installation to the relevant municipal fire service, and where a new chimney is required we prepare the application. The statutory duty to notify rests with the property owner; our submitting it on your behalf does not transfer that duty, and we provide you with a copy for your records.
6. Guarantee
We guarantee our workmanship for five years from completion. Appliances and flue components carry the manufacturer's own guarantee, which we administer on your behalf. The guarantee does not cover damage from misuse, burning unsuitable or wet fuel, unauthorised modification, or failure to have the appliance serviced and the chimney swept as required.
7. Consumer rights
Nothing in these terms limits your rights under Norwegian consumer legislation, including the Craftsman Services Act (håndverkertjenesteloven) where it applies.
8. Cancellation
Cancellation more than 14 days before the agreed installation date is free of charge, except for appliances already ordered to your specification. Later cancellation may incur costs already committed.
9. Complaints
Contact us first at hello@ildverk.no — most issues are resolved within days. Unresolved consumer disputes may be brought before the Norwegian Consumer Authority's complaints body.
10. Governing law
Norwegian law applies. Any dispute is subject to the jurisdiction of the courts at our registered address unless mandatory consumer rules provide otherwise.
