The rules we work to
Norway's Electronic Communications Act (ekomloven) was updated with effect from 1 January 2025 and now applies the GDPR standard to cookie consent. In practice that means consent must be active, informed, specific and freely given. Pre-ticked boxes, implied consent from continued browsing, and browser settings are not valid consent. The Norwegian Data Protection Authority published detailed guidance in April 2025 and has been inspecting sites since.
How consent works here
- Analytics and marketing cookies are switched off by default.
- The scripts that set them are not loaded at all until you allow the relevant category.
- "Reject all" is presented with the same prominence as "Accept all".
- Your choice, the time it was made and the policy version are stored locally in your browser.
- We ask again after 12 months, or sooner if this policy changes materially.
- You can change or withdraw consent at any time through the cookie settings link in the footer.
Categories
Strictly necessary — always on
Required for the site to work and cannot be switched off. These store your cookie choice and protect forms against automated abuse. They do not track you.
- ni_consent
- Your cookie choice · 12 months · first party
Analytics — off by default
Aggregated statistics about which pages are read and how people arrive, used to improve the site. Set only after you allow this category.
- _ga
- Distinguishes users · 24 months · Google
- _ga_*
- Session state · 24 months · Google
Marketing — off by default
Used to measure advertising performance and to show relevant advertising elsewhere. This category also enables third-party embeds such as maps and video, which is why those areas show a placeholder until you allow it.
- _gcl_au
- Ad conversion measurement · 90 days · Google
- _fbp
- Ad measurement · 90 days · Meta
Embedded content
Maps and video players are loaded from third parties that may set their own cookies. We do not load them at all until the marketing category is allowed — you will see a placeholder with a button to open your cookie settings instead.
