Flue systems

The chimney decides what is possible.

Before anyone talks about which stove you want, something has to carry the smoke out. New steel chimneys, relining of old masonry, penetrations and draught problems — this is the half of the job nobody photographs.

New insulated steel chimneys

Where there is no stack, or the old one is beyond saving. Modular twin-wall steel, routed through the roof or up an external wall, typically installed in one to two days. This work requires an application to the municipality — we prepare and submit it.

Relining an existing stack

Many Norwegian houses have a sound brick chimney with an unsound liner. A steel liner dropped inside restores the flue without touching the masonry, and usually costs a fraction of a rebuild.

Draught diagnostics

Smoke pushing into the room, glass sooting within an hour, a fire that will not catch. The cause is rarely the appliance — it is height, cross-section, cold flue, or a modern airtight house starving the fire of air. We measure before we sell you anything.

External air supply

New and renovated homes are tight enough that a fire competes with the ventilation system. A dedicated combustion air duct fixes it and is worth specifying from the start.

Worth knowing

An appliance is reported. A chimney is applied for.

The two are treated differently under Norwegian rules, and confusing them is how projects stall. Fitting a stove into an existing home needs a notification to the fire service. Building a new chimney needs an application to the municipality before work starts.

Where a project involves both, the notification still has to be sent as well. We keep track of which document goes where.
